| DIRECTIONS TO Number 12, CALLE Arthur Berger, Balcon Al Mar, Javea(Xabia), Alicante,Spain
On arrival at Alicante airport, before you leave the security area, collect your rented car at one of the counters and then depart through the airport lounge to the large carpark for your car opposite the Airport. On collection of car,as you come out of the terminal, look for the sign that says “All Routes” This exit is in the middle of the covered carpark.
Move over to the lefthand lane (traffic is one way in your favour).
Turn Left at the junction.
You will go down a ramp to enter onto a dual carriageway.
Drive for about 2 km
Take the exit right to Valencia A7 motorway. DO NOT GO INTO ALICANTE
After a few km you will come to the toll; grab a ticket. (No payment yet)
Go for about 90 km
At a distance, you will see a sign for Gata De Gorgos.
This is my warning for the arrival to the next junction for Javea (Xabia)
You will arrive at the toll and pay about 6 euros.
As soon as you go through the toll, TURN RIGHT to Javea (Xabia). It is easy to miss this junction so be prepared.
Drive for about 8-10 km. You will come across a few roundabouts.
You will come across a large roundabout with a metal sculpture on it. Opposite it is a large DIY store called BRICO---. With iron gates.
Turn right in the direction for Benitachell (Benitaxell) and about 2 km, you will come across to a newly built roundabout.
Turn Left in the direction of Cap De La Nao (Cabo De La Nao)-This is the lighthouse adjacent to our property so it is a good landmark to note.
Keep driving and going up hills (roads twist and turn). You will eventually come to a large opening with the lighthouse and a restaurant in front of you.
Follow the road down to the left and the turning to the property is the second turning called Calle Arthur Berger. (about 100km from the lighthouse).
Apply your brakes and weave your way to the carpark on the cliff.
Park and unload going down the steps to the last property on your left. (The only one with a glass conservatory).
You have arrived!
A Must to Visit for Food and Donkey Rides in the mountain
Is the Restaurant called Les Murtes. Please book in advance, preferably before you leave England!
There are also great seafood restaurants along the port at Calpe (45 minutes drive)
You can visit it via car or book a boat from the fishing port in Javea. This is landmarked by the other lighthouse in Javea ( San Antoni) The boat usually leaves at 930am from the port. Make enquiries.
There are interesting day markets in each province on each day. Information is left in the property for your reference. If you need to hire DVDs, do so from a newsagent.
Best Sandy Beaches will be the Arenal (5-10 minutes drive from the property). Close to the property are the Granadella Beach (Stony), Ambolla (Nudist) Barracura (Stony) etc.
Our favourite sandy beach is El Portet near Moraira. Head for Benitachell from the property and follow signs to Moraira and you will see a sign before you get into Moraira at the roundabout for El Portet and follow the road downhill and you will come to the cove of sand with restaurants along the coast. Moraira is also another sandy beach.
The Spanish love a festival. Check at the Javea Town Hall in the old part of Javea for activities. Visit the indoor market next to the Town Hall. Have a cup of coffee and mezes and do some shopping.
We do a big shop on arrival at the MERCADONA in Javea which is very convenient to park and walk into town. Lidl and other shops are around that area.
Closer to home is the ELVI supermarket which is within walking distance and which is also next to the large Leisure complex of LOS PINOS. Andy who is the owner will not mind if you go there for a swim as long as you have a drink there at least. They are very friendly. He has tennis courts as well. The complex has food/snack facilities as well.
